How To Get A Bank LoanYou need money, and it’s probably a better idea to seek a bank loan than to head out and rob a bank. But the bank doesn’t make things very easy – and with good reason. Before you head to the bank to sign up for a loan, it’s a good idea to be prepared for the process, and it is a process. What you need to know is that banks want to loan you money, but you need to prove you’re someone who will pay it back again. Determine What You NeedIn the days before you sign up for a bank loan, you need to determine the amount of money you need. If you’re working on a specific project – i.e. buying a new home – think about the money you will need and how much more you might want to borrow for unexpected costs. In some situations, however, the bank will look at the money you have in savings right now, and they will take that into consideration when they fund your loan. If the bank sees you already have X amount of money to spend, they aren’t likely to give you extra money. Check Your Credit HistoryBecause the bank is going to look at your credit history, you should take a peek first. You can review your credit report once a year for free. Be sure to check all of the credit agencies, including Experian, TransUnion, and EquiFax. You can go onto their sites to get reports, as well as summaries of what those credit scores mean. From there, you can see how you might be able to fix your credit, or at least have a good explanation when the bank asks you about it. Research Your Loan OptionsYou don’t just have to head to your local bank to get a loan. You can also apply for loans online with banks around the country. This sort of research can often yield a better loan rate, helping you have an easier time repaying the loan on terms you can afford. Ideally, you should look into at least three different lenders before you settle on just one. Apply for the Bank LoanOnce you have determined the best possible lender for your needs, then you need to apply for the loan. This process can take time, as you will need to gather a number of forms and pieces of information to ensure the bank is satisfied. With a partner or a trusted friend, make sure you fill out all of the pages of the application and that you check and recheck the information you have listed on the form. If the bank approves your loan, it will then take a little more time to complete the process. You might still have a few pieces of paperwork to send over, as the bank can always use more supporting information. But once things are settled, you’ll get your check and be ready to spend your newfound money…that you need to repay over time. |
